James Corban Racing
Embark on a high-octane journey with
James Corban in the world of motorsport.
Motorsport's next success story
"I know that I was born to race at the pinnacle of motorsport.
As a kiwi kid it started with anything that I could go fast in or on: two wheels, four wheels, anything with wheels - especially if it had an engine! In my teens, I discovered teamwork and competition; this is the environment in which I thrive. Through experiencing success and joy in road cycling, youth leadership, choir and study, my core values of skill, service and excellence were set… all to be channelled into my deepest passion for speed…
Believe with me, back me, and be part of this epic journey.”
“You could see straightaway that he had some impressive natural ability. James was very good on his gear changes, his braking was smooth, he listened to my instructions, and drove very nice lines. He performed very well in the interview which shows he’s got good ability outside the car which is very important. I’ve watched his progression with interest. He’s very dedicated, he’s very very keen, and is always trying to better himself which are great attributes. I recommend people should get behind the journey, it’s exciting. The thing I like about it is he’s doing it off his own back and he’s passionate. He will give it 100%, so he needs a good backer. I wish him all the best.”
Mike Eady, Owner of Tracktime Driver Academy, who raced cars worldwide since 12 years of age including winning the Nurburgring 24-hour four times, and he is a qualified senior BMW instructor.

FT40 Formula car purchase
James Corban Racing has bought an FT40 as the next stage in this journey to provide significant track time and experience driving and racing high-powered single seater wings and slicks race cars. This will be a stepping stone for James to prepare for CTFROC in January.
Gained professional driver coaching
James had the opportunity to gain professional driver coaching from Daniel Gaunt and other professional drivers, while also comparing his driving/track data with a Formula One Driver. It was a welcome encouragement for James to see how similar he was.
Spontaneous debut in Honda Cup
James embraced an opportunity and was more than capable of accepting a last-minute challenge to compete in an unfamiliar car and series. He was fastest car on semi-slick tyres, despite the obvious lack of upgrades and disadvantage in comparison to his competition.
Masterclass in the wet
After a lethal qualifying on old wets, James managed to outperform everyone in his class and the majority of the people in the faster class. James gained 18.5 seconds on 1st place in 6 laps in his handicapped race on slick tyres in the wet. Showing his car control, confidence, and natural ability. James went from 12th to 5th in a 10-lap multiclass race, narrowly missing out on 1st-in-class by losing a drag race to a more powerful car on the final straight.
"His progress through the year was highlighted by an outstanding display in the final round of the season in very wet conditions, firstly in a very wet race on full wets for the first time and then on a wet but drying track on slicks. In both races, he was fast and placed ahead of many faster race cars and more experienced competitors."
